F36Warning
LG Refrigerator F36 Error Code
The freezer temperature has risen above a safe threshold (usually >15°F / -9°C). This can indicate a cooling system issue or door left open.
Common causes
- Door not closed properly or gasket seal leak
- Defrost cycle failure (evaporator iced over)
- Compressor or refrigerant issue
- Fan not running (see F21)
How to fix it
- Check that freezer door is fully closed and gasket is clean and sealing.
- Listen for compressor and fan running; if not, check error codes for F21 or F29.
- If evaporator is iced over, perform a forced defrost (unplug for 24 hours with door open to melt ice).
- Monitor temperature after reset; if it persists, there may be a refrigerant leak.
⚠ When to call a pro: Call a technician if temperature does not recover after 24 hours unplugged, or if you suspect a refrigerant leak (oil stains, hissing).
