Maytag Oven/Range F9 Error Code

The oven temperature has exceeded the maximum safe limit, often due to a stuck relay or sensor failure.

Common causes

  • Shorted oven temperature sensor
  • Faulty control board with stuck relay
  • Wiring short causing constant heat

How to fix it

  1. Immediately turn off the range at the circuit breaker to prevent fire hazard.
  2. After cooldown, restore power and check if error returns.
  3. Test the oven temperature sensor resistance (should be ~1100 ohms at room temp).
  4. If sensor is shorted, replace it.
⚠ When to call a pro: Do not operate the oven until the issue is resolved. If the sensor tests good, the control board may be faulty.
