F3Warning

Maytag Oven/Range F3 Error Code

The oven temperature sensor is shorted (resistance too low), causing erroneous temperature readings.

Common causes

  • Faulty oven temperature sensor (RTD) - shorted
  • Moisture or contamination on sensor connector
  • Control board failure

How to fix it

  1. Turn off power at the breaker for 5 minutes and restore power to reset the control.
  2. Remove the oven temperature sensor from the oven cavity and inspect for damage or corrosion.
  3. Measure sensor resistance with a multimeter; it should be around 1100 ohms at room temp. If near 0 ohms, replace sensor.
  4. Check the sensor connector on the control board for signs of moisture or corrosion.
⚠ When to call a pro: If replacing the sensor does not clear the error, the control board is likely defective.
