Whirlpool Dryer F02 Error Code

The thermistor (temperature sensor) is open or shorted, causing inaccurate temperature readings.

Common causes

  • Faulty thermistor
  • Loose or corroded wire connections to thermistor
  • Short circuit in wiring

How to fix it

  1. Unplug dryer and remove lint screen housing to access thermistor.
  2. Check thermistor resistance with a multimeter (should be ~10kΩ at 77°F).
  3. Replace thermistor if readings are out of spec.
